The Base Coaches Job
The base coaches job is to provide information to the athletes. The third base manager should be the one calling the signals and coordinating the offensive strategy. The third base manager is primarily responsible for communication with the batter, the base runner on 1st, 2nd and 3rd base. The first base manager primarily is responsible for communicating with the runner coming to first base and keeping base runner on first base aware of the game situation. Both managers should be reminding the base runner of the current situation, what the count is and how many outs are there. The base manager should advise the base runners about how big of a lead off to take, weather to run through first or round the base or to keep going to the next base or not. The base manager should be both vocal and visual so the runner knows what they are trying to let them know.

The coach is the person who communicates with parents, players, umpires, other coaches and your local associations. You facilitate the team by making sure all the equipment is there when it is needed. Most important are the players. You are teaching more than the skills and strategies of fastpitch.
